This cooking adventure will be lead by Kerry of Taka Table in a new Secular Sabbath series in which we learn the art of cooking, creatively. We want to be able to create beautiful, healthy, colorful, and delicious meals just as she does. This month we will start with Hibiscus.

• Multi-Purpose Plants! – Use our brewed hibiscus tea to dye cotton napkins (to take home)
• Shaved Fennel & Orange Salad – with toasted sesame & Hibiscus reduction dressing
• Hibiscus Basmati Rice & Pink Beans – learn how to naturally dye rice and beans
• Pink Yucca Tortillas – with pink cauliflower, radish & onion accompaniments

• Napkin dyeing with hibiscus tea
• Salad making: working with hibiscus reduction
• Cooking session: rice, beans, cauliflower, tortillas, accompaniments
• Syrup making for dessert
6:00 – 7:00 pm — Transition
• Set table with dyed napkins
• Share creative process
• Prepare tablescape
7:00 pm — Feast & Dialogue
• Communal meal with hibiscus-centered dishes
• Open conversation: food, color, nature as cultural connectors
