This Month, we are discussing the legendary book The Giver, by Lois Lowry.

I first read this book in elementary school, and recalled the potency of the story as I meandered through a Barnes & Noble a few months ago. This spark inspired me to revisit it as an adult. I devoured the pages, noticing things that I didn’t understand as a child, that now give perspective to life now, in a new way.

We have an optional companion read: The History of Sexuality, Vol. 2: The Use of Pleasure by Michel Foucault. As The Giver is a quick one, we thought it would be fun to offer a difficult companion read that can be applied to The Giver in discussion. This is completely optional!
