Ep. 7 | Tub Talks with Loria Stern: Baker + Entrepeneur + Food Artist

This week on the Tub Talks podcast, the innovative chef/baker Loria Stern joins us in a thoughtful soak. Synthesizing her talents in the world of aesthetics, culinary arts, and nature, Loria explains her journey into forging her own career path over the last eight years. We get into the nuances of growing up as children of the hippie generation, the impact of that generation on their offspring, and how it ultimately shaped Loria’s food artistry and business for the better.

Growing up in Ojai, Loria was exposed to big nature in a small-town atmosphere. Therefore, understanding the land’s medicinal plant offerings came intrinsically to her. Loria worked as a personal chef, where she created freedoms to be culinarily creative, and was entrusted with the knowledge to feed her clients only the best ingredients - a skill that would translate to her hyper-successful cookie business. Sparking the flame back in 2018, Vogue released a number of features on Loria’s unique baking style: her signature shortbread floral cookies. This press propelled her into an instant overnight success, with more orders than she could handle. Still refining her recipes with perfect botanicals so that everything looked and tasted elevated, this sudden success was overwhelming. Realizing her much-loved art was not a trend but a project worth investing in, she tells us how finding a solid group of fellow female artists in the world of custom culinary creations shifted her perspective and helped her overcome imposter syndrome.

Now, as a pioneer in her field, and amassing a cult following for her cuisine, Loria has moved onto cookies as her primary craft, but will be hosting a sensory dinner experience with our Secular Sabbath inner circle members.
